I designed a book about Bong Joon Ho’s work, the movie Parasite.

Parasite is a complex South Korean film about economic disparity between classes. The first half of the movie is a comedy, while the second is a psychological thriller. Tackling this booklet, I wanted to encapsulate how the narrative leads the viewer through all these intense emotions, and the buildup of inevitable uneasiness as the story goes on. 

With 14 pages, the design of the booklet starts off light, but then continues to darken. Experimental typography starts to fall out of place from the text. The movie also contains lots of secrets; when printing, I added secret pages and parts that would unfold or slide out to show a hidden meaning. I immersed myself into Parasite’s story and analyzed the symbolism shown throughout the film; this project reflects my ability to capture a narrative with design.
